DHCP IP Address Conflict Detection

You can setup your DHCP to check if an IP is in use before it attempts to assign the IP Address. This process is called DHCP IP Address Conflict Detection and is very simple to setup. By doing this, the DHCP will ping the IP address before it attempts to assign.

Setup DHCP IP Address Conflict Detection.

1. On your DHCP server, click Start, choose Administrative Tools and then click on DHCP.

2. Expand the server object tree, right click IPv4, and click on Properties.

3. Click on the Advanced Tab.

4. Type number of conflict detect attempts you want the DHCP to make in the Conflict Detection Attempts field.

5. Click Ok.
